Snowblower hitting the flower?

I never owned or used a snowblower before. Should I let the snowblower drag on the floor, or lift it slightly off the ground? I let the snowblower drag this past weekend, and it left snow behind. It was kicking back slightly. I dont really know, can someone please explain.

Snowblower hitting the flower?
It should have little metal "sled"-like devices on both sides of the rotary auger. These devices are supposed to guide and level the snowblower. Almost always, it will remove virtually all the snow right down to the pavement. Sometimes if there is ICE or a layer of already trampled snow, the snowblower may only get down to about 1/8 inch of the ground.

As mentioned elsewhere: Double check the scraping blade!
Reply:The lower scrapping plate must be worn out.A good snow blower will not leave any snow on the driveway. It can also be used for any amount of snow.I have been in the business of snow removal for 30 years and I do not own a snow shovel.
Reply:a snow blower is really only good for 12" or more of snow. it is the movement of large amounts of snow out of the way quickly. the shovel is used for the finish work. i also use one of the long old time kitchen broom(like what the witches fly around on at Halloween) to simply sweep the snow off the sidewalk.

The snowblower should have a safety guide allowing it the rest, while moving, without the blades hitting the concrete. this mean it can be on, spinning, and you are not holding onto it. that is the lowest it will go.
