I have just moved to Decatur Illinois and have a plant question.?

There is something floating in the air that looks like dandelions (the stuff you used to blow off the flower as a kid). However, there are so many of them that it literally looks like it is snowing. There are no fields of dandelions that I can find, so I am wondering what this is coming from. Any ideas?

There is a certain type of tree, but I don't know what it is. The white fuzzy stuff is from the bloom. We have it floating around here in Indiana and as I look out the window there are several fuzzies floating by.
