What do you feel when you read these words?

The words of this song always make me cry? What effect do they have on you?

Some say love it is a river

That drowns the tender reed.

Some say love it is a razor

That leaves your soul to bleed.

Some say love it is a hunger

An endless, aching need

I say love it is a flower,

And you it’s only seed.

It’s the heart afraid of breaking

That never learns to dance

It’s the dream afraid of waking

That never takes the chance

It’s the one who won’t be taken,

Who cannot seem to give

And the soul afraid of dying

That never learns to live.

And the night has been too lonely

And the road has been too long.

And you think that love is only

For the lucky and the strong.

Just remember in the winter

Far beneath the bitter snow

Lies the seed that with the sun’s love,

In the spring, becomes a rose.

What do you feel when you read these words?
Wow! The story I am going to tell you now...

I am a handsome, masculine, browned-eyed, black-haired, slender, 5'10 feet tall Puerto Rican male of twenty-four years of age. In 2004 I had a handsome, masculine, hazel-eyed, brown-haired, 6'00 feet tall and muscular boyfriend of twenty-three years of age --- just two years older than me. He was my first same-sex relationship. He was my first man too.

That same year he got sentenced to 12 years in prison for burglary and traffic in a stolen vehicle in Florida. I was very disappointed with him but I rode it with him for over two years and after that he told me to move on and forget about him because he wanted me to live my life.

I will always love him. So, yes, this song is very strong and makes me CRY. I am not afraid to admit it.

Reply:The song is called "The Rose". When I was about 8 years old I was in the school chorus, and we sang this song once. At that time, it used to fill my heart with exquisite melancholy and a sense of supernal Beauty I could not begin to understand. Now it just reminds me of my childhood.
Reply:This song by Bet Midler was about her best friend "ROSE" who died of cancer.

It is indeed a great song
Reply:It's alright but it certainly didn't make me cry...

By the way, whose song is it? Would you mind telling me? and did someone break your heart?
Reply:oh westlife song! i love it too! i felt sad within me yet inlove at the same time. it seems like a reality in life...it's like we're afraid to take a risk because of the consequences that follows.
Reply:Bette midler sings this best. I agree with you as well. Amazing!
Reply:nice..
Reply:it is a melancholy song. powerful but melancholy.
Reply:It is called "The Rose."
Reply:I feel like living. Like bringing up the nerve to tell him I love him and want him all to myself.

Or at least spending time with him. As friends. With potential.
Reply:Nice, but I don't feel anything.

Sorry.
Reply:The Rose sung by Bette Midler. It might have been written by Dolly Parton.
Reply:Always reminds me of the film "The Rose" (starring Bette Midler). "The Rose" was based on the life of Janis Joplin, and her life was a tragic waste of talent and potential.

It's a beautiful, bittersweet, melancholy song. I don't cry, but it makes me sad.
Reply:They give me the feeling of hope. No matter how much pain there is in the spring the rose still blooms
Reply:This is a beautiful piece of work. However, after watching Napoleon Dynamite, it makes me wanna giggle. I envision Napoleon awkwardly signing the words with his bony hands, his mouth hanging open and a slight sigh emits from his lips.... Ughhhh....
