Last summer, I spotted a strange plant while hiking within the woodlands of Ohio.
1) I am sure the plant was not a cactus
2) It seemed like a short, slender, plant that had a stem similar to a flower
3) There were small, little "branches" or extendtions to the stem that were covered with small, yellowish needles that were less than 1 cm long
4) I touched it with thick gloves as protection (ones that would be used when playing in the snow)
5) Needles went through the glove, stinging me
6) The plant was green
7) It was as tall as a bottle of water
The plant fortunately did not poison me... but I am hoping to find out what it was. I've tried searching the web and books from the library, ending up with only frustration. Would someone please help?
